PAGD is partnering with the Dental Implant Learning Center to bring the PAGD Implant Continuum to Pennsylvania. This three-module continuum is designed specifically for general practitioner dentists to give a thorough understanding of diagnostic and treatment modalities necessary to properly treat patients with dental implants. This Implant Continuum utilizes case-based learning methods that will include lectures, demonstrations, interactive seminars, hands-on sessions, online presentations, and relevant reviews of literature emphasizing evidence-based learning.

Module 1, October 19-21, 2023

Introduction to Implant Dentistry, Diagnosis, Division of Bone, Density of Bone, Prosthetic Driven Implant Planning, Pre- Prosthetic Treatment Planning, Socket Preservation, Basic Implant Surgery,Implant Prosthodontics

This module is designed for general dentists interested in learning socket preservation and bone grafting techniques. Participants will learn how to diagnose extraction sites, learn about different types of bone grafting materials, learn socket grafting and learn other bone grafting techniques.

Hands on bone grafting of sockets will be practiced on plastic models. Participants will learn how to diagnose edentulous ridges and treatment plan patients for dental implants. CT analysis and planning, guided surgery, flap designing, implant placement and Stage II uncovery will be discussed. Hands-on implant placement will be practiced on plastic partially and fully edentulous models.

Module 1 Objectives:

1. To understand clinical evaluation of a patient for implant cases
2. To learn treatment planning and basic implant surgery
3. To learn advanced suturing techniques for implant surgery

This module is designed for general dentists who have completed Module 1 and are looking to expand their knowledge of implant dentistry and dive into the more complex procedures and restorations. Participants will learn how to utilize technology for digital dentistry through a hands-on experience using an intraoral scanner. During this module, participants will also learn about full mouth treatment planning, restorations, and overdentures. To conclude the module, participants will learn about BMP Growth Factors, the uses and benefits of PRP and PRF in implant dentistry accompanied by hands-on experience.
