Major responsibilities include didactic and clinical resident education, patient care; and coordinating advanced training of the dental residents in select dental and medical specialty areas. Administrative roles involve the selection and evaluation of residents and meeting established requirements of the School of Dental Medicine, UPMC, and Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Director also provides direct patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings with opportunities for an intramural faculty practice and further income supplementation.
