Peak was established
in Pa. in 1986 for the purpose of the development of a “fast track”
toward one’s FAGD or MAGD awards. The concept is simple. A dentist
would attend a two and a half day lecture series over a specified
weekend, usually the spring and the fall. The dentist would then
take that information back to their offices and develop a Power
Point presentation based on the material they were taught on their
own patients. The material relates to any of the 16 disciplines
outlined by the AGD that are located on your printouts.
For example, if you saw a presentation based on Endodontics on
Friday, and Crown and Bridge on Saturday and Sunday, you would
develop a ten minute presentation based on what you saw over the
weekend. These presentations are given on the Thursday prior to the
start of the new session on Friday. Then you start all over again on
different topics. You proceed through until you have collected
enough credits for your awards.
A successful presentation to your peers would result in 48
participation hours. Just attending the lectures would result in 20
lecture hours.
