Management Essentials for Practicing Dentists is a unique educational opportunity to learn real world business strategies from the prestigious faculty of the Katz Graduate School of Business of the University of Pittsburgh. In cooperation with the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry the Katz School faculty have created a curriculum that is clearly focused on the needs of practicing dentists.

Real world business owners understand that managers need to be trained in areas of operations, human resources, leadership, and accounting. They invest in this training because they know it will help their business to grow and prosper. About the Instructors

Robert Walinchus, DMD

Robert E. Walinchus, DMD is a 1984 graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry where he received awards in Pediatrics and Radiology. He was a Member of the Oral Surgery Honor society.  He is in private practice serving the people of the Philadelphia area for more than 25 years. 

He has lectured extensively on the subject of Dental Cosmetics in the United States and in Europe his last lecture in Europe being at the University of London College of Dentistry.  Skilled in all facets of dentistry, Dr. Walinchus, presently lectures and is Co-Director of the Implant Educators in Philadelphia.  This course, given yearly, teaches dentists from around the country to place and restore Implants.  All live surgeries are performed by Dr. Walinchus in his office in Springfield, PA.  Dr. Walinchus then becomes their mentor sharing his years of experience with his colleagues from around the country.  Dr. Walinchus is a member of numerous organizations including: AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry); AADE ( American Academy of Dental Excellence); ASHD (American Society of Hospital Dentists AAGD (American Association of Geriatric Dentists); AGD (Academy of General Dentistry); ADA( American Dental Association).     As recently as May 2009, Dr, Walinchus received the most prestigious award of Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).  Dr. Walinchus is on staff at Delaware County Memorial Hospital and Riddle Memorial Hospital, where he performs all types of dental treatments while his patient's are under Anesthesia.

Charles D Samaras DMD FACD FICD

Dr. Samaras is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and has practiced Dentistry for over 28 years. He is a fellow of The American College of Dentists and The International College of Dentists. Dr Samaras also served as The Director of Practice Management at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for 9 years as well as an Assistant Clinical Professor. He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Tufts Dental. Dr Samaras has authored over 100 articles for several established Dental publications, serves on the editorial board of Dental Product Shopper journal and lectures nationally and internationally on Dental Technology, Practice Management, CAD/CAM Dentistry, and Advice for The New Dentist. He is a co-founder of 21st Century Practice Solutions and lives in Pinehurst, North Carolina with his wife and two daughters.

James Albani, DMD

Dr.Albani is a graduate of Saint Peters College in 1980 where he received his BS degree in Chemistry. Following his undergraduate degree, Dr. Albani attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and graduated in 1984 with a post-graduate DMD degree. He continued his dental education by being accepted to the periodontal post-graduate program in 1985. He graduated in 1987 with a specialty certificate in Periodontics. Since 1987, he has been in private practice, with the last 20 years being located in Woodbridge,NJ.
Dr. Albani is a clinical professor for undergraduate as well as post-graduate students in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey since 1989. He is also an attending at JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ where he donates his time teaching the general practice dental residents.

Dr. Albani is the past-chairman of the JFK Dental department as well as a past member of the Bioethics hospital committee,medical records committee,and chairman of the JFK Medical/Dental Staff Dance committee. He is the co-founder of the Third Millennium Dental Forum, a componant of the Seattle Study Club, an international dental study club focusing on treatment planning and comprehensive dental care.

Dr. Albani has lectured at the New Jersey Dental School undergraduate program as well as hygeine and dentists continuing education programs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania.
