Life Long Learning and Public Service Recognition Awardees

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) recently launched a Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) program to formally recognize a member's dedication to remain current in their profession and “give back” to the community.

Dr. Richard D. Knowlton, DMD, MAGD 2005

The LLSR is presented only to qualifying Masters of the AGD. Mastership is one of the most respected designations in dentistry and is achieved through a challenging hands-on study in the 16 dental disciplines, totaling in 1,100 hours of continuing education.

Masters who receive this additional recognition will have met the highest criteria for professional excellence. To receive the prestigious LLSR, a member must have completed more than 1,600

hours of continuing dental education in all disciplines of dentistry, including 550 hours dedicated to hands-on skills and techniques and more than 100 hours of service to the community.

“The LLSR program allows the AGD to recognize members' achievements beyond Mastership and to promote the value of lifelong learning,” says Francis Nasser, Jr., DDS, MAGD, ABGD, and Chair of AGD's Dental Education Council. It also encourages members who have achieved Mastership to pursue leadership, volunteerism and mentoring activities.

Congratulations to Pennsylvania's first awardees and thank you for all your dedication and service to dentistry and your communities.

Dr. John G. Lazur, Jr., DDS, MAGD  (2006)
